Laya Arts Academy presents Sita Swayamvaram

This performance will feature Natya Kala Ratna Pasumarthy Venkateswara Sarma and our very own Denver based dance school Laya Dance – Mrs. Prathyusha Apparasu. The story of King Janaka and the contest for his daughter Sita's hand in marriage will be presented in the Indian classical dance form, Kuchipudi. 

This event will serve as a fundraiser for the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple of Colorado. Dinner will be available in a to-go box after the performance.

In November 2010 Laya Arts has organized a fundraising event for the Children's Hospital by putting together a Kuchipudi dance ballet, Kumara Sambhavam, in Aurora, Colorado.

2009 - Fundraising Event for Sowrirajan Educational and Charitable Trust

In March 2009 Laya Arts has organized a fundraising event for Sowrirajan Educational and Charitable Trust and raised $14,000 to improve and expand their school in Thiruvilaiyattam village, Tamil Nadu, India.

The school was founded in 1865 and provides FREE World Class Education to poor, handicapped and orphaned children of the village and surrounding areas. The school currently serves K-10 and want to expand to 11th and 12th grades to prepare these children to continue on to higher education and add real hope to their lives.

The School’s current expansion plans include 8 new classrooms, a Library, and Laboratories for: Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Computers. Your contribution will help over 1000 students of this school reach their full potential and give a good life to their families and children for generations to come.
